Traveling to Lancaster County to visit her friend Lillian Stoltzfus for a month, Lillian and Samuel's son David falls ill, resulting in a visit to the hospital emergency room and shunned brother Dr. Noah Stoltzfus. Samuel's faith is tried, Lillian is compliant and Carley can't understand the unfairness of the shunning. Wiseman creates a story of love and compassion as well as forgiveness, a joy to read.
