Rebecca Keim and John Miller are making wedding plans. When former maiden school teacher and friend dies leaving her estate to Rebecca instead of her siblings (as her niece Rachel lusted after) storm clouds arrive to rain on Rebecca's parade. Because of a childhood friendship Rebecca is in trouble with the church and marriage to John seems threatened. Rachel is so angry she is driving her son, Luke, away, and connives to cause Rebecca harm.
