The Courtship of Nellie Fisher. A story about the schism that occurred among the Old Order Amish in 1966. Nellie Mae Fisher is coming of age for courting and is interested in Caleb . She works hard baking sweets for a little shop she runs on her parent's property. Her sister Suzy had drowned a few months earlier while on an outing with Englischer friends, causing a great deal of distress for her immediate family. Caleb is concerned about appearances, knowing his father will forbid his interest in anyone who will cause trouble for his family. Quite an interesting tale, giving insight to Amish life and thought.
